  Lifespring Ministry

Volunteers play an important part at Lifespring. They teach practical skills classes, lead Bible studies, become an “adopt-a-friend”, help with office work, organize social activities for our families, provide leadership for fundraising events – the opportunities are limitless!

Interested in getting your church, civic group or friends involved?

Monthly Volunteer Orientation Sessions are held at Lifespring and are designed to help those interested in volunteering. To find out when the next Session will be held, call Lynda Dorsch at 630-952-1104. AND...if you or your group would like to attend a "Coffee" at Lifespring where you can learn more about the ministry and take a tour, give Lynda a call to set up a convenient time.

Tutors

  • Tutoring & literacy programs (GED, ESL)
    Too often this is not thought of as "ministry," but much successful evangelism takes place in these one-on-one settings.

Worship Services - Saturday evening & Sunday morning services in the jail

  • Preachers
  • Provide music
  • Join us - pass out Bibles and be a presence

Bible Studies

  • Leaders and Co-leaders
    (Join an existing group or start a new group to coincide with your availability)

One-on-One Counseling

  • A working knowledge of the Bible is a must

Holiday Programs

  • Be creative!

Material assistance to inmates’ families

  • Invite or take them to church
  • Work together with them as part of a team

Aftercare

  • Mentoring through our Master’s Touch and Lifespring programs
  • We are in the process of starting weekly meetings for ex-offenders. We need Pastors to speak (once per quarter) and churches to bring a "pot-luck" (once per quarter). Please contact Chaplain Tom for more details.
  Elgin Wayside Center

To volunteer, contact Josh Brey at 847-695-4405

  • Van Driver (am & pm)—volunteers are encouraged to take at least one shift per week.
  • Provide and serve lunch for 40, once a month
  • Bible study teachers—especially for the women
  • Counselors
  • Disciplers
  • Evangelists
  • Prayer partners
  • Front desk assistance
  • Shoppers
  • Van maintenance - upkeep and repair
  • Teachers (computer classes, anger management, life skills)

  Hope Outreach Ministry

To volunteer, contact Andrew Hart at 630-723-3427.

Volunteers are welcome to help in our warehouse / store operations, but an even greater need exists in the maintenance of our buildings and grounds.

Drive Wayside’s truck to pick up donated items

  • Monday- Saturday: half or full day commitment
  • We will run DMV check & add you to Wayside’s insurance

Miscellaneous opportunities:

  • Painting & carpentry
  • General clean up
  • Storage / Stocking shelves
