Working with community partners, our after-school programs help children with homework, provide academic enrichment, extra curricular activities, and are also able to instill Christian values. With the aid of community partners, UYM is able to provide transportation for students who work in or participate in after-school programs around Aurora. UYM programs include:
Tutoring and After School Programs
- The R.E.A.D. Program - "The Homework Club"
R.E.A.D. stands for Reinforcing Education And Development - what UYM is all about! UYM sponsors after-school tutoring programs at two local elementary schools. College, high school and adult tutors reach out to children needing help.
- Lunchtime Reading Club
- Book Clubs
Reading mentoring programs.
- After School Collaboration Programs
“My Time”, in collaboration with community schools, Aurora University and other organizations and agencies - kids are provided with programming & transportation assistance, tutoring, etc.
High School Mentoring
In collaboration with Communities In Schools, Aurora University, the Quad County Urban League and other community organizations, high school students are given their first on-campus college experience at a local university via the College Ready program.
Sports Programs
- Girls Softball (ages 8-12)
- Boys Pony League (ages 13-14)
- Baseball Camp
- Golf Camp (boys and girls)
Community Outreach
- Free clothing, furniture, and house wares to needy families
- Free clothing to refugee children
- Christmas toys and Easter baskets to families
