Transforming the powerless to the empowered, the lost to the saved, with the love and gospel of Christ our Lord.
The board, servant leaders, and staff at Wayside Cross Ministries offer a biblical avenue for Christians who want to help the hurting and needy. Our programs and infrastructure provide transforming pathways to those who would be lost without them. Drugs, alcohol, and violence are a few of the many forces entrapping people, and all of these pathways lead to destruction.
What began in 1928 as a soup, soap, and salvation mission has transformed into what we see today – a mission guiding lives with the word of God toward a shining light of hope and fruitfulness. Throughout our six divisions we witness the transforming power of the gospel at work in the hearts and minds of individuals and families as they receive the skills and training needed to lead a productive, Christ-centered life.
Master’s Touch Ministry is where troubled men with lives lost to drugs, alcohol or other destructive behaviors experience the transforming power of the gospel through mentoring and personal guidance. They rediscover their productive skills and are given opportunities to become employed citizens.
Lifespring Ministry is a long-term transitional living program for women and women with children who have lost their housing due to addiction, abuse or financial reasons. Here they gain the necessary skills to live interdependently.
Elgin Wayside Center Ministry connects with the homeless and needy families in their community. Every month over 200 individuals receive practical life-changing services.
Urban Youth Ministry provides an alternative for kids who come from low-income and under-resourced neighborhoods; many of these children live in areas that have high crime and gang activity. They are able to participate in activities that they otherwise would not have the ability to do if they were home. UYM offers a safe environment for children to learn and grow in academics along with social and emotional learning while teaching hope through the word of Jesus Christ.
New Life Corrections Ministry brings the transforming power of the gospel to people behind bars.
Hope Outreach Ministry is where residents work together as a team, fostering habits of job longevity while instilling a biblical sense of purpose in work. They do this while helping manage our property and the outpouring of donations coming into Wayside Cross Ministries. At the warehouse they process many donated items such as clothing, furniture and electronics. They help maintain the ministry’s physical plant and housing program. Willing hands provide needed help at the Hope Chest Resale Store. Care is given to our fleet of vehicles which provide transportation for residents, staff and volunteers while also facilitating pickups of large donations in the Fox Valley area. And they participate in many Wayside community outreach initiatives.
