Meet Jeff

. . . he really needed a miracle but would one come in time.

Free Alcohol and Drug Recovery Center for people who need a little more than 30 days.

I was always a strong individual. But when I lost everything, drinking became the only way to erase the pain…then my body shut down.

New life after alcohol, how Wayside Cross is earning a reputation as a Christian recovery program that works.

Jeff was the kind of guy who could handle just about anything. . . that was until his company downsized. After losing his job, his wife left. Now strapped with overwhelming debt, his drinking increased. But this time, it was worse.

Jeff’s fourth DUI landed him in jail for six months.

In his words, “ he went from “the penthouse to the outhouse.”

But after a week in jail, his body began shutting down. Two weeks later, he woke up in the hospital. He was returned to the jail’s medical ward with a failing liver and spots on his kidney.  He needed a miracle.

‘For I will restore you to health and I will heal you of your wounds,’ declares the LORD
~ Jeremiah 30:17

Jeff was ready to give up. He sat in his cell that night, crying his heart out to God saying, “I’m yours. I got nothin’ to give. My tank’s dry.”  Out of the blue, Jeff had a divine revelation. He looked up and said: “I need to be righteous.”

Then a pastor introduced him to our New Life Corrections Ministry.
That door led him to Wayside.

In the beginning it wasn’t easy. After two weeks in the Master’s Touch Program, he was ready to leave. Then Jeff was introduced to his mentor and, after that meeting, Jeff knew he was in it for the long haul.

“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test
he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.”
~  James 1:12

The walk to recovery can be a long road, but after nearly two years, Jeff boasts of the changes the Lord has provided.  Thinking back on how far God has taken him, he is grateful and humbled by the support he received and realizes how significant our donors, staff and mentors are to his recovery.

Eventualy, Jeff is not only a graduated our Master’s Touch program and served as a Resident Assistant for the past fourteen months here at Wayside. He is now an active member of his church and he is working fulltime. Today, he is fully employed and living independently. Jeff says he owes the new life he found in Christ and the time he needed to recover at Wayside Cross Ministries.

“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion
until the day of Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 1:6
