Full-time Position: Director of Urban Youth Ministry
Reports to: Executive Director
Wayside Cross Ministries seeks an accomplished Christian ministry leader to oversee the UYM division. The UYM Director will play a crucial role in providing guidance to the program staff and committed volunteers. UYM provides hope to At-Risk Youth in the community through Jesus Christ, with support of local churches, like-minded businesses, donors, and dedicated volunteers.
If you have Formal theological/Biblical training with a degree from an accredited seminary or theological institution and a heart for inpacting the lives of youth Ages 5-18 this may be the job for you.
Urban Youth Ministry (UYM) is one of the six divisions of Wayside cross This ministry dedicated to serving under-resourced families in Aurora area with free, recreation, childcare, educational support and enrichment programs and more. Over the last several years, this ministry after-school program has experienced massive growth in the number of youth we serve. So much so, we are in the process of building a dedicated youth center to accommodate the need for increase capacity and services.
Responsibilities:
- Develop annual Plan for UYM in consultation with the Executive Director and oversee all program staff.
- Devise and maintain the department’s annual budget and be responsible for maintaining expenses and financial performance.
- Recruit and retain volunteers for UYM, leading the Steering Committee to plan and share responsibilities to maximize the ministry effectiveness.
- Work with the committee to represent UYM in the community through partnerships with churches, service organizations, and businesses in the Chicagoland area.
- Collaborate with WCM senior staff members as a team player to support and carry out the objectives of WCM.
- Work with the Executive Director to solicit and cultivate key donors and formulate annual fundraising plans, including organizing UYM’s annual Fundraising Dinner.
Qualifications:
- A deep commitment to Christian faith and connection to a Bible-based, Christ-centered Church.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise staff and volunteers to achieve organizational growth.
- Formal theological/Biblical training with a degree from an accredited seminary or theological institution.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
- Proficiency in Spanish is an added advantage to engage with the target population effectively.

Compensation: Salary dependent upon skills and experience.
