Meet LaToya…

…finding hope in Wayside’s Free Christian Recovery Programs.

At This Point, She Had Nothing Left To Loose…

Coming To A Transitional Housing And Recovery Center Isn’t An Easy Decision To Make At Any Age. Thankfully This Grandmother Had Wisdom To Want More For Her Life.

Free, Faith-based Addiction Treatment Programs that work: For over 95 years, Wayside Cross Ministries’ Lifespring Center and Master’s Touch for Men have proven Christian recovery programs work. In story after story, residents in our free, comprehensive, Bible-based transitional living programs share how giving their lives to Christ in our extensive program gave them success, independence, and a new sense of community and even helped rebuild their families. Read how LaToya rebuilt her life on the solid foundation of Christ at Wayside.

“Her children will arise, up and call her blessed;

~ Proverbs 31:28

“I’m a mother and I am a grandmother. I just wanted my children to give me their best. But I knew I needed to come to Wayside’s Lifespring Center and find a better version of myself, so I could give them my best.”

When LaToya first came to Wayside Cross’ Lifespring Recovery Center for Women, she was looking for a safe place to help her discover a better version of herself. She knew it needed to be rooted in Christ but she had a life experience she wanted to break free from too. As she said:

“Coming to Wayside Ministries’ Lifespring Center has helped me to get a sense of who I am. Especially who I am in Christ and who Christ is developing me to be.”

I believe that this place is making me stronger and will make me a better person, a better mother, daughter, sister, friend., and I needed that.

“Like clay in the hand of the potter,
so are you in my hand.”

~Jeremiah 18:6b

You could say I’m a work in progress. Yep. I’m still a work in progress, but once again, through Christ, all things are possible.

Things that I used to do or that I used to believe, I don’t do that any more and when adversities come, I know how to handle them. God allows these things of the world to happen for a reason. The storms are still coming….

But God said the weapons that the world has formed, he promised they would not prosper. He’s definitely calming the storm in me. So long as God is doing that, then everything else is possible.

“Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer
to the LORD, who had spoken to her. She said, “You are the God who sees me.”

~ Genesis 16:13-15

I’m a mother and I am a grandmother also. I would like my children to give me their best. So I came here to find a better version of myself so that I can give them my best.

I’ve definitely made some strides coming here. I was hurt, bitter, angry but God is softening me. He’s softening my heart. He’s helping me to be receptive and to see and understand criticism. Because God corrects his child. He corrects his child with love and I needed that.

The first weekend I came, there was a graduation for the ladies that came to Wayside Cross Lifespring Center before me. And it gave me hope, because it gave me something to look forward to.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.”

~ Psalm 32:8

We all have a story and if God can deliver them, he can surely deliver me. He can also deliver the women that are coming behind me too.

These days, I’m just asking God to let me be a light. Let me be an example, just to be a beacon of hope for those who are coming.

“I would encourage anyone who needs to change and a chance to figure things out check into Wayside Cross Ministries men’s or women’s recovery centers.”

Jesus is the light that shineth in me. If walk the way God wants me to walk, he’ll show up in me, or talk the way God wants me to talk, or love the way he wants me to love, he’ll show up in me. Today, I thank the Lord, for being that light so someone like me can find her way home
