Meet Captain Hilderbrant

. . . retired airline pilot and New Life Corrections volunteer

FINDING PEACE IN THE EYE OF THE STORM WITH RETIRED AIRLINE PILOT AND NEW LIFE CORRECTIONS MINISTRY VOLUNTEER CAPTAIN DICK HILDERBRANT.

Course Corrections: Finding peace in the eye of the storm.

These days, Captain Dick Hilderbrant is all about second chances as he helps individuals to overcome the turbulence of a life behind bars.

A veteran and retired United Airlines captain Dick flew 777’s for 37 years.

In his spare time, he restores and sells vintage 70’s motorcycles with his son. But he has a heart to serve!

He first got involved with our New Life Corrections Ministry in 2013 through his church, Harvest Bible Chapel in Elgin. But the moment he went on his first two-day DADS seminar with our ministry team, he was sold on this critical work with the lost and broken.

“The people I met all needed two things: Hope and Redemption.”

For me, the experience was life-changing . . .

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ. ~ Galatians 6:2

Since his first trip with the ministry, he’s served on countless two-day seminars over the years, but that’s not all. Dick faithfully volunteers weekly, preparing the necessary brochures for these two-day trips. This is vital material our teams take to the prisons.

Dick is a great support to our New Life Corrections Ministry team, and to top it all off, he recently graduated from our Chaplains program.

We are blessed by the many volunteers who come into our office weekly to help . . . Dick Hilderbrant is just one of them.

Today, Captain Hilderbrant helps people who have made mistakes in life find friendlier skies  . . . And along the way, a peace that surpasses all understanding.

If you have a heart to serve, check out the many ministry options available through Wayside Cross or support the life-transforming effect that the gospel of Jesus is having on the most broken and show them a life, free and full of new hope.

DO YOU HAVE A MISSION TO SERVE?

Volunteers at Wayside Cross play a crucial role in the transformational process of men, women, and children in our care. Join one of our six ministries dedicated to serving men broken by life and addiction, abused and addicted women or moms with children who need a safe place to stay. We also need faithful people who are led to minister to the imprisoned or assist at-risk youth who need afterschool opportunities to grow and develop, teach new job skills and mentor in our ministry, help serve meals in our kitchens, or assist in one of our two thrift shops.

Join us in helping to transform lives.
