Your Prayers and Support Matter. You may not realize it, but you were there at a time when Tom needed hope. As Memorial Day approaches, it’s only fitting and proper to think of those who have gone before us in the service of this great nation.  We remember how so many made the ultimate sacrifice.

But for every soldier who died, there are countless others who also paid an incalculable price for their sacrifice. Post-traumatic stress and the ravages of war have a compounding effect.

It affects jobs, marriages, and the ability for individuals to integrate with society.  Many become homeless, mired in the quagmire of the destruction they witnessed or inflicted upon themselves.

 …People just like Tom.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”  ~Jeremiah 29:11

Thankfully, Tom’s story is one of profound transformation. It’s a story of hope you helped us to provide.

After serving honorably in the US Army for several years, he returned home to civilian life without clear direction. Without the spiritual foundation he needed to put the pieces together. That void in his life led him down a dark path, and he turned to drugs as a way of coping.

Soon, his struggles escalated, eventually leading to incarceration. And yet, in Tom’s lowest moments, God‘s grace never abandoned him.  It led him to Wayside Cross Ministries, where Tom found his way back from the brink through God’s promises, and a newfound faith.

…Back to the arms of Jesus, where he began to rebuild his life.

“Thy word is a lamp onto my feet and a light on my path.”  – Psalm 119:105

Today, Tom’s testimony is one of how the living power of Christ’s redemptive power worked in him.

Through Wayside Cross and your faithful support, we can reach countless others this month just like Tom. They will discover the healing power of Christ, and the strength to face and overcome similar struggles.

Today Tom’s life stands as a beacon for those who feel lost, proving that no matter how far one may fall, there is always a pathway back to the light.  Back to the hope that can be found only in Jesus Christ.

Life Transformation for a Homeless Vet can begin for just $10.25.

At Wayside, it takes only $10.25 to give a hurting veteran a day’s worth of compassion, counseling, and holistic care.  Today, we are happy to report that Tom has been in the program for well over seven months, and is still going strong. Last fall, Tom  qualified to run in the Boston Marathon.

This year, Tom not only ran that race but beat his best time ever. So much so he’s qualified to run Boston again next year. Thanks to you he had the faith to keep going.  We all have our own race to run. And yet sometimes we need the help of others to sustain us — to finish that race of endurance.

Thank you for being a sustainer of this ministry.  Your prayers and support matter more than you know.  Together we have been able to reach the unreachable through a hot meal, safe shelter, and the saving power of the gospel.

At this very moment, men, women, and children residing in our care and participating in each of our ministries are fighting and winning the countless battles that brought them to Wayside Cross, thanks to you!
